"Do you believe in fate?"

Tamaki cocked his head to the side. "Heavenly intervention... it would be nice if there was an explanation for everything."

"So... yes?"

"So no. People make their own choices, their own future and they should take responsibility for it. Fate, luck, destiny..." He waved a hand scoffingly, "They're all excuses. Nothing is predetermined. While it would make our lives a whole lot easier if we knew what's gonna happen and who we're meant to be... it would also render our life worthless."

Haruhi pouted slightly, confusion gracing her soft features. "But... isn't fulfillment of who we are supposed to be the whole point of life?"

"True..." Tamaki shrugged, "But not completely. Life holds far more meaning than what simply what we accomplished. It's the whole journey. The constant uncertainty, discovery and learning is what makes life so exciting. Part of what makes you well, YOU is how you reacted to the unexpectedness. Believing in fate, that some being planned out everything for us, takes that away. More than that, it would also take away our ability to become more than who we, or anyone else, ever thought us to be."

Understanding lit up her eyes as she put her finger to her lips thoughtfully, "Because believing in fate is like limiting yourself... Putting walls on the human capacity."

Tamaki nodded brightly,  "Exactly! The possibilities are endless and they should be treated as thus. If we knew what was to come then we wouldn't have to take risks and it's the risk-taking that has the ability to make our life so beautiful! Which reminds me Haruhi... Will you marry me?"
